What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker III - Adult Services position at Surry County DSS?
The primary role of this position will be conducting thorough evaluations of Adult Protective Services reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of disabled adults. Social worker will also be responsible for the Guardian Representative for Surry County Wards as well as provide case management services to aged and disabled adults within the community. Responsibilities will include evaluating clients’ situation and his/her coping skills, developing a social history, service plan and follow up. Also, enhancing the problem solving and coping capacity of agency clients in the areas of health, nutrition, housing, budgeting, personal finances and other activities of daily living. This will include providing effective and productive linkage between agency clients and various community resources, including adult care facilities. This position will have on-call duties rotating with APS staff. Other duties as necessary.
Valid NC Drivers License and vehicle in good operating condition required. Must be able to transport clients in personal vehicle.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field plus two years directly related experience; or a four-year college or university degree plus three years of directly related experience. Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning.
