Surry Rural Health Center in Mount Airy, NC is looking for one family medicine nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our team. We are located on 113 Scenic Outlet Lane. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and reliable.

A Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare to patients of all ages, diagnosing and treating a wide range of illnesses and injuries, performing preventive care, and coordinating with other specialists, when necessary while maintaining a long-term patient relationship focused on overall health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Take detailed medical histories and perform physical examinations to diagnose acute and chronic illnesses
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, imaging studies, and other relevant tests
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for a variety of medical conditions, including chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease
  • Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness
  • Perform minor surgical procedures when appropriate
  • Conduct routine wellness checkups, including immunizations, cancer screenings, and preventive health counseling
  • Educate patients on healthy lifestyle practices regarding diet, exercise, and smoking cessation
  • Clearly explain diagnoses, treatment options, and potential risks to patients
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including specialists, nurses, and social workers to ensure optimal patient care
  • Refer patients to specialists when necessary
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records, including progress notes, diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • Comply with all relevant healthcare regulations and documentation standards
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times including appropriate use of Cell phone, emails text messaging, patient charts, and EMR
  • Handles other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage complex medical cases and coordinate care with other healthcare providers
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and preventive medicine
  • Average to advanced computer and software skills required
  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license

    Available shifts and compensation : Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation depends on your experience.
