What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent position at Surview?
Primary Function: The Field Superintendent for Natural Gas coordinates all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality of workmanship and site safety, supervising all field personnel, maintaining the job site office, and closing out projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise all natural gas activities including the maintenance of schedules, preparation and review of project daily reports, completion of punch list, etc...
- Supervise and assume responsibility for the total natural gas effort in accordance with design, budget, quality, and schedule.
- Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
- Become familiar with prime contractors subcontract document and understand process for reporting change orders and progress delays.
- Perform assessment and procurement of materials and equipment. Order materials and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the process.
- Coordinate site testing and other inspection services.
- Coordinate subcontractors as necessary.
- Provide feedback and performance evaluations to team members.
- Conduct and/or supervise daily safety meetings and “Toolbox Talks” and ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy. Rectify job site hazards immediately.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
- Support the financial wellbeing of the organization through industry marketing efforts and industry events such as trade shows, conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Solid knowledge of the natural gas industry.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and IOS operating system.
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to delegate work appropriately.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations.
- Ability to analyze problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications and costs.
- Ability to interpret and implement company mandated safety policies.
- Ability to manage, plan, schedule, and undertake work safely, independently, and professionally.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, plans and specifications and to compare them with various aspects of progress, to detect errors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, clients, property owners.
- Ability to remain calm, focused and effective in pressure situations.
- Ability to take and pass Operator Qualification (OQ) covered tasks if needed.
- Ability to travel and work at various job sites throughout the United States for various durations approximately 90% of the time.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED is required. Completion of a vocational program is preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years as a skilled laborer in bridge construction and maintenance.
- Experience managing a tea of skilled laborers.
- Class A or B CDL is required.
Additional:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record and maintain vehicle insurance as required.
Physical Demands:
This position performs duties out-of-doors in changing environments, exposure to adverse weather. and traversing rugged conditions.
- Extensive physical exertion, such as bending and twisting, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, and/or carrying equipment of materials as needed.
- May require standing for long periods of time
- Work from varying heights and, at times, over water.
- Drive company vehicles to transport materials and/or equipment.
- Lift items up to 50 pounds with or without the use of mechanical aids.
- Use of precision or semi-precision tools.
