JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: ON-SCENE DV/SA ADVOCATE - PT
POSITION SUMMARY: Weekend On-Call advocate is responsible for responding to domestic violence and sexual assault crisis calls which connects survivors immediately after an encounter with appropriate services. Also responsible for assisting survivors with the forensic exam process for sexual assaults.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocate will work cooperatively with the Local Law Enforcement Agency to assist domestic violence and stalking victims on-scene.
- Advocate will maintain availability from Friday evening to Monday morning to be at the disposal of law enforcement officers needing assistance with victims.
- Advocate will report to the scene of domestic violence and stalking incidents at the request of law enforcement officers to meet with the victim, complete lethality assessment, and provide access to safe shelter, counseling, case management, crime victim’s compensation, and protective orders.
- Advocate will provide a hand-off to the On-Scene Coordinator to allow for follow up with every victim the following week.
- Provide services related to SA forensic exams including but not limited to: transportation, advocacy, Nurse assistance, and referrals to other agency support services.
- Attend to the needs of sexual assault victims presenting at E.R., Advocacy Center, Shelter, or Police Departments.
- Ensure continuous 24 hour availability of appropriate forms of assistance.
- Provide transport per grant requirement for these specific clients to and from examinations.
- Advocate will provide a hand-off to the Sexual Assault Responce Coordinator to allow for follow up with every victim the following week.
- Ensure continuous 24 hour availability of appropriate forms of assistance during the scheduled time frame.
AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocate on behalf of survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking and child abuse to prevent further incidents of family, domestic and dating violence.
- Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
- Ensure the protection of client’s rights and confidentiality both in shelter and the community.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and required in-service training.
- Attend program relevant training as required for certifications and standards.
- Engage in clear and timely verbal and written communication and maintain transparency with coworkers, supervisors, and the Executive Director in areas where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate client files and required funding paperwork - including grant reports and client database.
- Any additional duties as requested by the Executive Director or Board of Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess understanding of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, good communication skills, and the capacity to work independently. Should demonstrate ability to promote satisfactory relations with law enforcement officers, court systems, various service providers, and the community at large. Degree in social work, criminal justice or related fields preferred or two years experience in related fields required.
Must be at least 24 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a background check.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part Time - Non-Exempt; $15 - $17/hour
