As a Senior Project Architect at STR | A·D, you will work closely with the lead design principal and a collaborative team of architects and designers to shape projects that resonate with their environment and meet the needs of the communities they serve. We are seeking a well-rounded architect with strong design and technical expertise in all phases of design and construction. The role includes hands-on involvement in the documentation and coordination of projects in addition to mentoring and overseeing the work of junior architects.

KEY RESPOSIBILITIES

  • Lead the team through all phases of design -- including concept, schematic, design development and construction documents and administration for multiple projects.

  • Participate in the preparation and coordination of technical documents, including drawings and specifications for construction.
  • Mentor junior architects and designers, providing design and technical guidance and oversight throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors to establish project program, scope and budgets.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable codes, standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure the architectural vision is accurately implemented during construction, resolving design challenges and technical issues as they arise.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring that deliverables are met on schedule and within financial parameters.
  • Provide leadership in initiating and integrating sustainable design strategies and energy-efficient solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
  • Licensed Architect with current registration in New York.
  • 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role on completed projects.

  • Proven experience managing complex projects, including institutional and residential buildings.
  • Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Exceptional design and visualization skills, with an ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu).
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
