Reports to: Preschool Director / School Administrator
Job Overview:
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a positive, enriching, and safe learning environment for young children, typically ages 3-5. The teacher will provide instruction, guidance, and emotional support, while also fostering social, cognitive, and physical development through structured activities, play, and exploration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Implementation: Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support the preschool curriculum, focusing on social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment. Manage children’s behavior in a positive, consistent manner while maintaining a routine.
- Individualized Instruction: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of children in the classroom, including those with different learning styles or abilities.
- Communication: Maintain open, regular communication with parents regarding children’s progress, behavior, and development through parent-teacher conferences or regular updates.
- Supervision: Supervise children during both structured and unstructured activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Assessment: Observe and assess the children's development, keeping records of their progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Collaboration: Work as part of a team with other teachers, aides, and staff to create a harmonious learning environment.
- Classroom Setup & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized classroom, including preparing materials and keeping educational supplies stocked.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and stay current on best practices in early childhood education.
- Additional Duties: Assist with school events, field trips, and other school-related activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with young children, especially in a preschool setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and implement creative, developmentally appropriate lessons.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and assist children with physical activities.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and bend as needed to interact with children.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
