What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Sussex County Community College?
The Custodian performs general cleaning activities and special project set ups and summer assignments. Monday – Friday 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
Main Duties:
1. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
2. Knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, equipment and materials of custodial functions. Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment.
3. Perform floor care duties such as buffing, waxing and carpet cleaning.
4. Previous custodial experience preferred.
5. Remove trash and other debris for general custodial duties as well as special projects, such as moving furniture.
6. Perform set ups and break downs of scheduled events as per work orders.
7. Reports supply orders to Custodial Supervisor.
8. Reports needs for minor repairs to Custodian Supervisor.
9. Be able to lift 40 lbs.
10. Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure you and your team members are free from injury.
11. Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of basic custodial cleaning.
- Some experience with stripping, waxing and shampooing, etc.
- Be able to work independently and with the team; take direction and follow through.
Preferred Skills:
· Previous custodial experience preferred.
Salary: $38,000 per year
