What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registration Generalist position at Sussex County Community College?
The Registration Generalist will be responsible for the daily functions of the Registrar’s Office including answering telephones and general office tasks. This position also assists with processing registrations and assisting students with the online registration process. In addition, this position will process transcript requests, answer emails, and other Jenzabar related system tasks.
1. Executes established policies and procedures set forth by SCCC and supports the mission of the college.
2. Complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, as well as, compliance with other state and federal guidelines as they apply to student records, transcripts, transfer credit activity and graduation.
3. Assists with online and in-person registration processes and general registration office tasks, inclusive of drop/add, class list, attendance certification and other related tasks.
4. Processes out-going transcript requests and related tasks.
5. Evaluates transfer credits and processes in accordance with institutional and state guidelines and posts transfer credits to student transcripts. Notify students of successful transfer of credits and where such credits will be used in their program.
6. Answers and directs phone calls and takes messages when appropriate.
7. Answer office emails.
8. Participates on College shared governance committees.
9. Processes change of name/address forms, notifies faculty, Bursar, IT and international student advisor of any changes. Researches returned mail for alternative addresses on file and contacts students to officially change their addresses if current address on file is incorrect.
10. Processes student change of majors.
11. Assists with graduation related tasks.
12. Assists with semester course schedule maintenance.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
- Associate’s Degree or completion of a Certificate in Office Systems Skills.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of technology.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Detail oriented.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Previous experience in higher education and/or experience in an office setting with demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Salary: $ 41,500 per year
