Math Teacher (High School) Job Description:
Reports To: Building Principal
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification/licensure in Math or relevant subject area.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of math concepts and curriculum standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students.
- Passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to student needs and challenges.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of students.
- Provide instruction using various methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
- Stay updated on educational best practices and curriculum standards.
- Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment for all students.
- Ensure order and progress in assigned classes, providing both group and individualized instruction.
- Foster a conducive learning environment tailored to student needs and interests.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to instructional assistants, volunteers, and substitutes.
- Set and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Utilize diverse instructional techniques and technology.
- Evaluate academic and social progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Regularly assess students' instructional needs and seek support when necessary.
- Administer standardized tests and maintain classroom safety and equipment.
- Attend meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Uphold policies on student conduct and classroom rules in a fair manner.
- Demonstrate proficiency in subject matter and effective teaching methods.
- Communicate clearly with all stakeholders and seek professional growth opportunities.
- Adhere to professional standards, including punctuality, confidentiality, and self-control.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors and stay updated on educational trends.
- Be available for student and parent inquiries outside of regular hours.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Terms of
Employment: 8 hours per day, 10 months (200 days)
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Sussex County School Board’s policy manual.
