Sussex Development Corporation is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects from start to finish. This role ensures job sites are run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations, while upholding our core values of Integrity, Commitment, Collaboration, and Excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, schedule, and oversee daily field operations to ensure efficient workflow and maximum profitability
- Manage subcontractors, materials, and equipment to meet project timelines and budgets
- Review contract documents, drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders to ensure compliance
- Conduct site inspections, enforce safety regulations, and lead safety meetings
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, attendance, and job progress photos
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders
- Ensure quality control and adherence to construction plans and specifications
- Monitor job costs and address potential overruns proactively
- Lead project closeout, including punch lists, final documentation, and owner orientations
- Foster a collaborative and safety-focused job site culture
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience managing commercial construction projects, including ground-up and renovations
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, scheduling, and cost controls
- Proven ability to read and interpret plans, contracts, and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Outlook, Adobe PDF, and construction management software (CMIC a plus)
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
