Financial Analyst (Infrastructure Finance) – Sustainability Partners (Hawaii)

Job Summary

Sustainability Partners (SP) is revolutionizing public finance and infrastructure investment doubling in size every year for the past four and expected to double again in 2025 and 2026.

SP eliminates deferred maintenance and delivering Infrastructure as a Service® (IaaS). We are seeking a high-performance, Excel skilled, Financial Analyst to design and execute financial strategies that provide low-cost capital for customers while maximizing investor returns through unleveraged financing structures.

This is not a typical analyst role — it is a high-stakes, strategic leadership position for an elite competitor who thrives on solving complex financial puzzles. The role demands expertise in capital recovery, debt restructuring, municipal finance, and alternative funding models to position SP as the superior choice over traditional bonds, tax-exempt leases, and P3 agreements.

You will work at the intersection of infrastructure finance, design, procurement, risk assessment, and investor relations, structuring deals that minimize leverage, maintain accounting disclosure compliance of (GASB 60, 87 & 88), and balance risk and reward.

Key Responsibilities

·     Aligning customer and investor expectations takes creativity, collaboration, and analytic prowess in vetting options with SP’s engineers, lawyers, architects, and vendors.  A financial win/win is rarely obvious but always doable.  It is your job to quarterback the interconnected parties to achieve such. If your nature is to be a heads down, numbers analyst, this job isn’t a fit for you.

·     Financial Structuring & Capital Recovery – Develop sophisticated capital recovery and long-duration models that allow municipalities to recapture funds without increasing liabilities. Optimize GASB 60 service concession arrangements and navigate around GASB 87 lease structures plus GASB 88 debt definitions to stay out of the customer capital stack.

·     Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Modeling – Design and refine financial models that align with SP’s Infrastructure as a Utility® approach, ensuring low monthly customer costs while driving required investor targeted IRR/MOIC or yields.

·     Leverage & Debt – Structure transactions to compete with debt financing while providing market rate, long-dated, infrastructure investor returns realizing customers will rarely accept monthly rates higher than their bond ratings deliver.

·     Forecasting & Risk Assessment – Conduct rigorous financial forecasting and risk analysis, incorporating variables such as interest rate fluctuations, market shifts, useful life variations, maintenance costs and credit rating impacts.

·     Investor Relations & Capital Market Project Funding – Prepare high-level financial presentations and investor project forecasts, translating complex data into actionable insights.

·     Competitive Market Positioning – Analyze and position SP’s financial offerings against traditional financing methods (municipal bonds, tax-exempt leases, shared savings agreements) to demonstrate superior cost savings and risk mitigation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: College degrees in Finance, Economics, or a related field required (MBA, CFA preferred).
  • Experience: 7 years in corporate finance, infrastructure investment, or public finance.
  • Technical Skills: Exceptional Excel financial modeling, NPV/IRR analysis, and credit risk assessment capabilities.
  • Must be able to travel:  We believe physically seeing the infrastructure gives insight to the numbers and ability to advocate for a viewpoint.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Working knowledge of GASB 60, 87, 88 and municipal funding structures.
  • High-Performance Mindset: Extreme ownership, relentless problem-solving ability, and a refuse-to-lose mentality in financial deal-making.
  • Communication & Leadership: Proven ability to advocate for SP’s financial model, negotiate with investors and customers, and develop winning financial strategies.

Company Culture & Expectations

  • Extreme Ownership – You are fully accountable for financial outcomes and drive results without excuses.
  • Raving Fans – Every analysis and deal structure should turn both investors and customers into raving fans of SP’s financial model.
  • Ideal Team Player – You collaborate effectively, support your colleagues, and elevate team performance.
  • Competitive & Relentless – You thrive in high-stakes environments and will move mountains to win deals while staying positive and team-oriented.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and impact.
  • Incentives: Performance-based bonuses and long-term incentive plans available.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance, 401(k), and relocation assistance.
  • Career Growth: This role offers significant leadership and upward mobility within SP.

Application Process

  1. Résumé Submission to Nscateam@a-only.com – Highlight your problem solving, communication & leadership experience.
  2. Cover Letter – Demonstrate how your financial expertise aligns with SP’s mission and competitive financial strategy.
  3. Interviews & Case Study – Be prepared to be given a difficult scenario and develop your own financial model and articulate strategic insights as an advocate for the solution.
  4. Finalist Selection – Background checks and reference verification.

  • This is a career-defining opportunity for a thinking and driven financial professional who wants to reshape infrastructure finance and compete at the highest level. If you have what it takes, apply now. 🚀
