Strategic Sales Coach – Closing Complex Infrastructure Deals

Role Overview

Sustainability Partners (SP) is seeking a  high-impact Strategic Sales Coach  to develop and mentor our  elite infrastructure sales teams  focused on securing  high-value, complex infrastructure projects  across cities, counties, states, ports, schools, universities, and hospitals.

This is  not  a traditional sales training role. The ideal candidate must be a  master strategist, deal architect, and high-stakes coach , capable of helping SP’s originators  navigate multi-decision-maker sales environments  and  systematically remove, avoid, and minimize barriers  posed by  CFOs, procurement officers, elected officials, and facility managers —all while ensuring deals get  closed efficiently and effectively .

Success in this role requires  Extreme Ownership —you are  not  a passive trainer; you  embed yourself in real deals, troubleshoot obstacles, and ensure originators consistently win .

Your mission :   Turn SP’s originators into elite closers who consistently secure complex infrastructure partnerships—creating “Raving Fans” among clients, stakeholders, and investors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Extreme Ownership – Own the Sales Team’s Closing Success

  • You are  not a passive trainer—you are a deal enabler . You take full responsibility for whether originators  are closing or struggling .
  • If a deal  stalls, collapses, or encounters resistance , you  identify the root cause and fix it —no excuses.
  • You  embed yourself in deals , ensuring every opportunity is  strategically advanced  and that originators know how to handle objections, negotiations, and closing.

2. Sales Strategy & Execution – Training Elite Closers

  • Equip sales teams with  high-level strategies to overcome objections from CFOs, procurement teams, elected officials, and facility managers .
  • Teach  advanced deal mechanics , including  incentive alignment, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and contract structuring .
  • Lead the team through live deals —breaking down barriers and  providing tactical coaching in real time .
  • Develop and refine  closing playbooks  tailored for  long-cycle, high-stakes, multi-stakeholder infrastructure deals .
  • Master the art of persistence —train originators to push deals forward  without getting shut down .
  • 3. Removing Barriers & Winning Buy-In Across Multiple Stakeholders

  • Teach  how to build coalitions  across stakeholders and  drive alignment toward contract execution .
  • Coach originators on the  distinct concerns and motivations  of each key decision-maker :
  • CFOs :  Risk mitigation, funding sources, ROI concerns.
  • Procurement Officers :  Compliance, RFP processes, contract structuring.
  • Elected Officials :  Public perception, policy alignment, political considerations.
  • Facility Managers :  Operational impact, vendor relationships, maintenance costs.
  • Ensure sales teams  uncover hidden objections and neutralize them before they derail deals .
  • 4. Live Deal Coaching – Tactical, In-the-Moment Training

  • Work  directly in live negotiations and closings —providing real-time coaching during calls, presentations, and high-level discussions.
  • Join  priority sales meetings  to  observe, diagnose issues, and fine-tune strategies .
  • Help originators  craft persuasive messaging, structure proposals, and navigate high-stakes conversations .
  • Ensure every deal has a  clear next step—no dead-ends, no ghosting, no lost momentum .
  • 5. Creating Raving Fans – Ensuring the SP Sales Experience is Elite

  • Every SP originator should feel like they’ve gained a  competitive edge  from your coaching.
  • Customers should feel like SP’s sales process is  world-class—no confusion, no roadblocks, just seamless execution .
  • Sales leadership should see a  measurable increase in deal closures, revenue, and client satisfaction .

  • Qualifications & Experience

    Essential

  • 10 years of experience in executive sales coaching, enterprise deal negotiation, or complex sales leadership .
  • Deep expertise in  complex B2G and B2B sales —multi-stakeholder, long-cycle deals.
  • Track record of  coaching senior executives, sales leaders, and high-performing professionals .
  • Strong  business acumen —you understand  how deals get structured, funded, and closed .
  • Proven ability to  help sales professionals navigate government, finance, and corporate procurement hurdles .
  • Experience in  negotiation, strategic relationship-building, and revenue growth acceleration .
  • Preferred

  • Background in infrastructure sales, government contracting, or high-value enterprise deals .
  • Experience  working with elected officials, CFOs, and procurement teams to finalize complex agreements .
  • Familiarity with  public-private partnerships (PPPs), RFP processes, and capital-intensive infrastructure financing .
  • Work Arrangement

  • Flexible location , with availability for  live deal coaching, in-person strategy sessions, and virtual training .
  • Hybrid setup— a mix of remote coaching, in-person deal reviews, and strategic workshops .
  • Must be  available across time zones  for coaching professionals closing  high-profile infrastructure deals .
