Job Title: QA Beef Modernization Sorter

Job Summary:

We are seeking dedicated individuals for the position of QA Beef Modernization Sorter. This role requires keen observational skills and precision in knife cuts to make accurate decisions related to pathology, presentation, and sanitary dressing deficiencies. Sorters will work in a fast-paced environment with a primary focus on food safety and quality. This position involves intense and recurring training, as well as the responsibility to train and educate others. Sorters will collaborate closely with various harvest floor departments, including USDA-FSIS inspectors and on-site veterinarians.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Monitor USDA-FSIS regulatory activities and ensure plant compliance with regulatory standards.

·       Act as a liaison between USDA-FSIS and plant operations.

·       Perform precision knife cuts, including sharpening and maintaining knife sharpness.

·       Learn and apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.

·       Use a knife to incise lymph nodes and make necessary cuts for USDA-FSIS inspection.

·       Frequently interact and communicate with USDA-FSIS inspectors.

·       Maintain a positive and proactive attitude.

·       Ensure product integrity and food safety.

·       Communicate effectively and explain situations clearly.

·       Be detail-oriented, disciplined, and reliable.

·       Handle mentally and physically challenging work.

·       Push, pull, and lift products repeatedly.

·       Work collaboratively in a team environment.

Required Qualifications:

·       Ability to read, write, and speak English.

·       Ability to learn technical procedures and concepts.

·       Basic knowledge of safe food handling practices.

·       Basic knowledge of employee safety practices.

·       Able to deal with conflict.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Previous experience in food safety, quality, or regulatory roles.

·       Bilingual (English/Spanish).

·       Strong understanding of USDA-FSIS requirements.

·       Proficient knife skills.
