Maintenance Supervisor
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the maintenance department, ensuring that all tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and accurately to support and enhance plant performance in the critical areas of Safety, Quality, and Reliability. This role requires close collaboration with all departments to align and communicate maintenance activities, fostering a highly efficient operation. The position entails managing budgets, preventive maintenance programs, departmental purchasing, team supervision, and coordinating installations and projects to ensure seamless operations.

Team Leadership and Development:
Manage and guide the maintenance team by ensuring adherence to safety standards and compliance with company programs and policies. Cultivate a culture of safety, quality, and customer service by addressing skill gaps, providing training and mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment. Set clear expectations for performance and ensure the team is equipped with the necessary technical knowledge in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs. -
Project Coordination:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee installations and projects to meet specifications and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards. Track project progress to ensure timelines and quality benchmarks are met, addressing any delays or changes promptly. Build and maintain relationships with vendors to secure timely repairs, services, and training opportunities for the team. -
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Support and coach the site’s Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including Total Performance Management (TPM). Drive improvements through systems such as the Daily Priority System, Defect Handling, and Breakdown Elimination. Implement best practices to enhance operational excellence, predictive/preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability. -
Maintenance Metrics and Planning:
Develop and maintain maintenance and reliability plans, establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track progress and meet operational goals. Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to ensure robust preventative maintenance programs are in place for all assets. -
Budget and Resource Management:
Manage the maintenance department budget by optimizing staff scheduling, controlling expenses, and making informed purchasing decisions. Keep detailed records of equipment-related costs and ensure departmental purchasing aligns with budgetary objectives while meeting operational needs.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
- Expertise in HVAC, boiler systems, electrical work, and general process engineering principles.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- Background in food or beverage manufacturing with knowledge of FDA, GMP, and SQF guidelines.
- Minimum of five years of operations experience in a food manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Previous leadership and maintenance experience required; licenses and certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform moderately strenuous activities, including standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, and squatting.
- Capable of repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, clean environment with conditions that may include cool, wet areas and moderate noise levels.
- Willingness to work with chemicals as needed.
