What are the responsibilities and job description for the QUALITY MEDTEC TECHNICIAN II position at Sutherland Global Logistics Llc?
General Summary:
Responsible for working with key medical equipment customers for the cleaning, availability, inspection, and shipping of medical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Level I
- Alerts and facilitates the coordination of the units needing inspection; provides inspection updates to the Inventory Management System where required by customer requirements.
- Ensures inbound units needing repair are placed in the proper area and tagged with available information regarding the required repair.
- Alerts Inventory Control and client on customer equipment that needs to be repaired; coordinates the repair schedule and provides updates to the Inventory Management System.
- Cleans and maintains medical equipment; performs decontamination on medical equipment, where required by customer requirements.
- Conducts basic function testing of medical equipment, such as system power-ups (certain function test procedures involve the use of medical grade Air and Oxygen (O2) gasses).
- Completes the necessary paperwork procedures associated with daily activities.
- Coordinates daily calls with the TEC office.
- Ensures all units have their original barcodes and that barcode label is accurate and readable.
- Ensures that all ship dates are met; follows established shipping and receiving procedures per MedTec Warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Facilitates physical inventory counts, cycle counts and parts management; verifies actual counts are as indicated in Inventory Management System; ensures that cycle counts are conducted where required by customer requirements.
- Ensures that units allocated are units used for orders.
- Ensures warehouse technician check sheets are correct.
- Establishes, organizes and maintains warehouse area per MedTec policies and procedures.
- Facilitates and assists with tradeshow staging and training on site as required.
- Reports any issues or discrepancies to management.
- Interacts with clients on inventory availability and allocation of inventory as required.
- May be responsible for track and tracing of small parcel shipments to Sales Representatives or hospital locations.
- Receives additional instructions and directions from Lead MedTec Technicians, TEC office, MedTec program and/or management.
- Performs other tasks/projects as requested by management.
Level II
- Performs all duties of a Level I MedTec Technician.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses issues with customer devices and equipment; adjusts, maintains and repairs customer devices and equipment; escalates to Lead MedTec Technicians and/or management as necessary.
- Serves as point of escalation for communications with clients, Sales Representatives and/or hospital representatives as needed.
- Assists with training junior personnel; provides performance feedback to management.
- Performs other tasks/projects as requested by management.
Level III
- Performs all duties of a Level I and II MedTec Technician.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No direct reports.
- Organizes and coordinates daily workflow with team members.
- Allocates daily to team members the appropriate workload for each across all customer modalities and requirements to ensure completion of daily tasks while working closely with local and MedTec management to ensure team duties are accomplished efficiently within the prescribed allotted time.
- Monitors email and other communication notifications, establishing processes to ensure all are answered timely.
- Responsible for training incoming new hires and junior personnel; provides performance feedback to management; responsible for reporting performance issues to management on an ongoing basis.
- Ensures that all MedTec Technicians and applicable warehouse personnel are offered the Hepatitis B vaccination; assists with scheduling those that opt in and secures the completed Declination Form from Intelex for those that decline; forwards all documentation to Human Resources.
- Assists with managing month end processes and reporting.
- Assists with coordinating monthly and annual inventories as required, including weekly cycle counts.
- Works with local and MedTec management team to ensure proper coverage for scheduled and/or pending team member time off requests to include other unexpected times for which team members may not be present, including but not limited to, sick days.
- Serves as back up for manager in manager’s absence.

Qualifications:
Level I
- Ability to acquire TSA certification (required).
- Ability to be courteous and establish and maintain effective relationships with both customers and associates.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or sporadic direct supervision.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Must be self-motivated and possess strong attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of and inclination toward customer service.
- Up-to-date immunization for Hepatitis B or signed declination form.
Level II
- Meets all qualifications of a Level I MedTec Technician.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with electronic equipment and products.
Level III
- Meets all qualifications of a Level II MedTec Technician.
- Ability to lead and direct workload of team members.
Education and /or Experience:
Level I
- High school diploma or GED; technical degree or certification a plus.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year applicable experience or the equivalent experience and education; mechanical training and/or medical device experience desirable.
Level II
- All education and experience of a Level I with an additional two (2) years of experience in a technical position.
- Technical degree or certification desired.
Level III
- All education and experience of a Level II with an additional two (2) years of experience in a technical position.
- A minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience in a technical position; mechanical training and/or medical device experience desirable.
- A minimum of six (6) months of prior lead and/or supervisory experience required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing, to all levels.
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Basic PC skills (non-programming).
- Ability to quickly learn new programs/software.
Physical Demands:
