Organization: EMC - Eden Medical Center Position Overview: Under direction of licensed pharmacist, the pharmacy technician prepares, distributes, and transports pharmaceuticals including hazardous drugs and performs related duties such as interview patients to complete medication reconciliation. Pharmacy services provided encompass all patient populations of the hospital (i.e. newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, etc.). Job Description: JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Interviews patient and/or patient's family members and other related tasks to complete a medication reconciliation record. Works in IV department to prepare, charge and deliver IV and hazardous solutions and other related products. Works in unit dose areas to fill and exchange unit dose cassettes and to perform other related duties. Fills outpatient prescriptions, process patient and department charges, maintain patient records, files and other records. Prepares and makes deliveries to patient units and ancillary departments. Compounds, labels, and packages medications and pharmaceuticals as directed. Assists in inventory control work. Assists in the maintenance of a clean department/hospital environment. Maintains good working relationships with other staff and other departments with clear, concise and courteous communications. Assists in maintaining security and accurate records of narcotics and other controlled drugs. Demonstrates good attendance, good planning, good initiatives, good judgment in decision making, and reliability. Attends/participates in department in-service meetings and performs other related duties as assigned or requested. EDUCATION Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. Other: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Other: Graduate from Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or two years of college education CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE PHARMT-Pharmacy Technician PHARMI-Pharmacy Intern PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: IV Additive, Unit Dose Minimum of one year of hospital experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Ability to prepare hazardous solutions, IV additive Job Shift: Day/Evening/Night Schedule: Part Time Shift Hours: 8 Days of the Week: Variable Weekend Requirements: Every other Weekend Benefits: Yes Unions: Yes Position Status: Non-Exempt Weekly Hours: 24 Employee Status: Regular Employees of Sutter Health and its entities may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines. Pay Range is $32.85 to $42.86 / hour The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
