JOB SUMMARY
The Information Technology Support Specialist II is the first professional-level classification in the Information Technology Support Specialist series. Incumbents in this class assist in performing and perform a broad range of personal computer support duties requiring specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Incumbents in this class work under general supervision with some independence exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive instruction, direction and/or assistance as necessary. This classification is distinguished from the next lower-level classification of IT Support Specialist I in the broader, county-wide professional level duties and responsibilities, but does not function at the full journey level of the professional level IT Support Specialist III.
The Information Technology Support Specialist III is the full journey-level classification in the Information Technology Support Specialist series performing the full range of professional-level personal computer support duties requiring highly specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Incumbents in this class work independently and exercise judgment and initiative, receiving only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Work is judged on overall results with latitude in determining work methods and assignment requirements. Incumbent may provide training and serve as a lead worker for the lower-level classifications of Information Technology Support Specialist I and II.

$29.29 - $40.07 hourly; $60,923.20 - $83,345.60 annually
Information Technology Support Specialist III - Job Description
$32.53 - $44.07 hourly; $67,662.40 - $91,665.60 annually
Vacancy may be filled at either level II or level III. Candidates need only to apply once; all applications will be screened for the minimum requirements at the highest level they are qualified for.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned.
Information Technology Support Specialist II
- Assists in evaluating and/or evaluates office automation hardware and software needs of user departments to make recommendations regarding selection of personal computers, installation, and use to department management in accordance with Sutter County standards.
- Builds, tests, installs, and relocates personal computers; assists with special projects as assigned.
- Assists in personal computer system design, trouble-shooting, problem determination and implementation of solutions for user departments.
- Learns and performs functions relating to LAN/WAN system management.
- Assists with research, collecting of data, and analyzes of information to make recommendations for computer training; may conduct training classes in basic aspects of personal computer hardware and software use to user departments and individual staff.
- Provides input and may make recommendations for user groups, special interest groups, and evaluation committees involved with personal computers.
- Assists with ordering and tracking of personal computer acquisition, monitoring of vendors and contracts for related services, planning for computer conversions and upgrades. Inventory and maintain documentation for all County computer equipment including but not limited to personal computers, laptops, printers, Local Area Networks (LAN) equipment, and Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment.
- Record daily activities and time records for billing purposes.
Information Technology Support Specialist III
- Evaluates office automation hardware and software needs of customer departments to make recommendations regarding selection of personal computers, installation, and use to department management in accordance with Sutter County standards.
- Builds, tests, installs, and relocates personal computers; assists with special projects as assigned.
- Performs personal computer system design, trouble-shooting, problem determination and implementation of solutions for customer departments.
- May serve as LAN system manager. Learns and assists in WAN system management.
- Researches, collects data, and analyzes information to make recommendations for county-wide computer training; conducts training classes in all aspects of personal computer hardware and software use to user departments and individual staff; resolves training problems and makes recommendations for program modification based on perceived need.
- Provides input and recommendations for various groups and evaluation committees involved with personal computers.
- Orders, tracks, and manages all aspects of personal computer acquisition; monitors vendors and contracts for related services; plans computer conversions and upgrades. Inventory and maintain documentation for all County computer equipment including but not limited to personal computers, laptops, printers, Local Area Networks (LAN) equipment, and Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment.
- Records daily activities and time records for billing purposes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Information Technology Support Specialist II:
Any education and/or experience that would demonstrate the possession of the above knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to meet such qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of core course work from an accredited college or university in information systems, computer science, business administration or a related field, and one year of relevant network and/or PC experience.
Information Technology Support Specialist III:
Equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information systems, computer science, business administration or a related field, and two years of relevant network and/or PC experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential Duties require the following physical skills and work requirements:
Requires the ability to maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances; ability to see; ability to hear and communicate orally; exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements, such as data entry or use of other office equipment or supplies; occasionally requires sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying the weight of computer equipment; dexterity to climb or crawl necessary to install cable in areas of close tolerance; ability to operate a motor vehicle.
License or Certificate: May require the possession and maintenance of a Valid California Driver's License.
