Position Overview:
The Advance Practice Clinician (APC) Manager provides administrative oversight and clinical supervision to APC's in the FM/IM, Specialties & Surgery service line. The APC Manager will also maintain a part time practice.  In the specialty and surgical practice, they will maintain their clinical schedule, operating room and hospital based work.  The APC Manager will deliver primary health care to adults and/or children within scope of California licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.  The manager is responsible to ensure consistent compliance with PAMF policies and procedures. Collaborate with primary care service line leadership to develop the vision and strategic plans for APC integration and practice. Oversee integration of primary care, specialty and surgical APCs by collaborating with the regional APC Medical Director. Act as coach and mentor to APCs by serving as a role model and fostering continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Daily Operations

  • Coach, mentor and motivate APCs. Includes 1:1 observation of APCs in their clinical setting.
  • Promote culture of group practice while maintaining high level of morale
  • Monitor productivity and patient satisfaction of APCs and problem solve around issues that arise
  • Complete performance evaluations of APCs in collaboration with practice managers
  • Provide direct patient care 20 hours a week in a primary care department
Develop and maintain local relationships
  • Support Tier 1 physician leaders and APCs as liaison and on site resource
  • Collaborate with APC Medical Director in managing APC-MD teams for primary care
  • Host geographic APC Meeting, coordinate content with APC Medical Director
  • Participate in Primary Care Department Head Meeting (PCDH)
  • Participate in Gemba (requires in-person attendance at different clinical sites in the Division)
  • Provide direct patient care 20 hours a week in a primary care department

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop a plan for APC integration in clinical teams
  • Coordinate APC integration with Service Lines
  • Develop standard APC work for primary care, in collaboration with APC Medical Director
  • Develop APC budget targets
  • Provide direct patient care 20 hours a week in a primary care department

Develop and Maintain APC teams in Primary Care
  • Recruit and onboard APCs
  • Support local Tier 1 physicians in onboarding of APCs
  • Monitor adherence to standard work by APCs

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's; DEA (PA, NP) and Furnishing License(NP)
  • California licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and at least three years of clinical experience. One year experience in a clinical operational leadership role preferred
  • In depth understanding of clinical standards of primary care practice including Inbox management. Strong foundation in Lean Operating Principles preferred
  • Strong people management skills. Adept in Lean Operating principles or other improvement work. Ultimate team player. Unimpeachable integrity. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Specialties & Surgical Manager will provide direct patient care 35 hours a week in their home based specialty or surgical care department, operating room or hospital based work.
