Performs under the general direction of the Senior Chief Engineer. Manages Engineering and selected construction projects. Coordinates the activities of the Engineering functions including all mechanical, electrical systems, and utilities of the medical center i n an operative and safe working condition. The Chief Engineer is accountable to the Senior Chief Engineer for planning and maintaining an effective engineering organization; for managing labor, materials, purchase services, and staff training of maintenance personnel including safety. Meets and rounds with department managers. Functions in place of the Senior Chief Engineer on engineering related matters in his absence if so assigned.Job Description:
EDUCATION
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- Associate's: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school or equivalent education/experience
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
- HVAC-Certified HVAC Technician
- HazMat Certified
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Directing the planning, scheduling and coordination of Plant Operations activities.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages , ratios, proportions, area circumference, and volume.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to use computer maintenance management software to process data and create reports and develop trending and manage budgets.
Pay Range 78.19
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
