Purchasing Agent Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing day-to-day purchasing for residential construction focused on siding, housewrap, exterior windows, exterior doors, exterior architectural details, and more. The Purchasing Agent must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills. In addition, the mind set of owning one’s work is crucial to this role.
Purchasing Agent Job Responsibilities
· Utilize detailed material take-offs to order a wide variety of products including but not limited to: siding, housewrap, exterior windows, exterior doors, exterior architectural details and other construction related products.
· Analyze and interpret architectural plans.
· Proficiently read shop drawings.
· Obtain quotes from vendors and negotiate pricing.
· Analyze detailed proposals and accurate bid packages in a timely manner.
· Work with internal teams such as estimating, construction, accounting, business development, project management, and bid coordination to discuss additional or existing pre-qualified scopes.
· Meet deadlines and manage purchasing and delivery due dates.
· Assist Purchasing Manager in recruiting new vendors and trade partners.
· Ensure contracts are complete and accurate before new project or community starts.
· Works with leadership to prepare all reports needed.
· Foster a team environment. Maintain positive relationships with customer’s and vendor’s personnel and representatives.
· Make recommendations for process improvements.
· Maintain vendor contact list.
· Monitor inventory levels, facilitating replenishment actions as necessary.
· Address discrepancies between purchase orders and deliveries, working closely with vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner.
· Demonstrate ownership and accountability for responsibilities, customer service and professional behavior through personal work ethic, teamwork, and effective communication skills.
· Review work product regularly to ensure work is on schedule and that the workmanship meets plans, specifications, and standards of quality.
· Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of data.
· Ensure personal workspace is clean, orderly, and visually appealing.
· Other duties as assigned by management.
Purchasing Agent Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Require a minimum of two (2) years of construction purchasing experience.
· Require a minimum of two (2) years of experience in office environment; construction office experience preferred.
· Experience with purchasing windows a plus.
· Ability to read and understand blueprints.
· AutoCAD experience a plus.
· Experience with Stack, Bluebeam, or other estimating software a plus.
· Proficient MS Office skills required.
· Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Advanced knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and document management required.
· Proficient with email and telephone skills.
· Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to meet specific deadlines.
· Able to work in a high volume, fast paced environment.
· Good analytical skills, able to make sound decisions utilizing the data at hand.
· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships.
· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Purchasing Agent Physical Demands
