Sutton National's Actuarial Team is looking for an Actuarial Analyst that will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and execution of the pricing and reserving capabilities of the department. In this role, you will have the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external clients; contribute meaningfully with ad-hoc analyses and projects from start to finish; communicate results and findings of work; demonstrate curiosity and identify areas for improvement and value add. Ideal candidates must be proactive and able to adapt quickly to a fast-paced highly collaborative environment and must have the desire to grow with the Company in an expanding role. We are seeking a driven and motivated problem solver ready to take an active role in the day-to-day execution of tasks to advance the Sutton’s overall mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with data testing related to changes and updates in the Company data lake.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of reports to monitor KPIs for each program, including but not limited to loss ratios, historical rate changes, claim frequency/severity, aggregation, limits profile, class/industry profile, etc., and the ongoing monitoring of inforce portfolios.
- Contribute to the automation of rate level indications and reserving analyses spreadsheets.
- Conduct periodic program specific profitability reviews.
- Perform quarterly reserve analysis to establish and monitor IBNR reserves for each program, including allocation of IBNR to line of business and jurisdiction.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects on an as-needed basis.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain organized and up to date files for all work product, materials, and resources associated with the Position.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field.
- Preferred Years of Experience and Exams
2 years of actuarial property and casualty insurance or reinsurance experience in any combination of pricing and reserving; and 3 actuarial exams.
- Experience in developing, automating and updating pricing and reserving analyses.
- Experience with SQL, R, Python and/or Power BI.
- Must be authorized to work in the US
