Assistant Terminal Manager - 5pm start time

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Terminal Manager to assist in providing Leadership and Managing every aspect of the Terminal Operations with a focus on Safety and World Class Customer Service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and transportation management, with expertise in managing warehouse operations and ensuring efficient supply chain processes. This role requires excellent leadership skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various teams, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and service.

Responsibilities

• Manage / oversee all terminal functions to include dispatch, dock, city operations and scheduling for all timely freight deliveries/pickups
• Perform dispatch functions for deliveries and pick-up calls to ensure prompt freight arrival according to customer requirements.
• Lead, guide, and direct terminal employees to include setting targets/goals, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development.
• Maintain the highest level of Cost Control possible
• Driving a culture of operational excellence and model compliance within terminal staff.
• Play an active role in personnel recruitment to include keeping the terminal adequately staffed.
• Training and development of drivers and dock staff.
• Accountable for managing efficient, clean and safe LTL operations.
• Enforce understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
• Responsible for providing the highest level of Customer Service possible
• Assist in supervising, coaching, mentoring and motivating employees while leading by example.
• Maintain the highest level of On-Time service possible
• Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way always.
• Help in maintaining facility cleanliness and upkeep.
• Must ensure proper equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver License
• Minimum age of 21 years old
• 3-5 years’ experience in LTL, distribution/logistics, transportation or operations management
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must demonstrate basic computer skills
• Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills
• Problem-solver, self-motivated
• Ability to multitask and continually prioritize a changing workload
• Possess excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Ability to work in a team as well as individually

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Common material handling tools may be used: forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors
• Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending, reaching, and lifting both above and below waist level may be required
• Heavy lifting may be required
• May be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions in the dock environment
• The office environment is generally favorable; Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are minimal hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
• Regular use of items including a computer screen or monitor.
• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers
• Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information
• May be exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others
