Ashby Animal Clinic is looking for experienced part-time Kennel Attendants to join our boarding and daycare center.

Ashby Animal Clinic, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, serves the Harrisonburg, Dayton, Bridgewater, and surrounding areas in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. With more than 40 years of experience, the same pet health experts from Ashby Animal Clinic expanded their care to include short and long-term boarding services, doggie daycare, and grooming in one convenient location.
Our Kennel Assistants provide daily care for the All About Paws sector of Ashby Animal Clinic and assist with kennel maintenance. The main objective is to properly board our dogs and cats, provide a fun-filled and safe environment for the pets in our care. Additionally, this means interacting with our clients as they pick up and drop off their pets. Working with dogs is a lot of fun, but this job is extremely demanding and requires someone who understands dog behavior and has excellent dog handling skills.
Candidates must be organized, able to communicate clearly with staff and owners, work independently and have a passion for dogs of all sizes and personalities. Candidates must be knowledgeable about dog behavior and body language and able to redirect dogs that are exhibiting inappropriate behavior in a safe manner.
The schedule for this job is 2 to 3 shifts per week, (1:00pm to 7:00pm). Alternating weekends and holidays are required.
Essential Job Functions:
- MONITORING all boarders indoors and in the play yard.
- Working with a large group of dogs
- Constantly walking and interacting with dogs
- MAINTAINING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT!
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Keeping the facility clean and maintained
- Record keeping, checking in and out dogs.
- Kennel Assistants must be active and attentive at all times.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year's experience working in a dog daycare facility is preferred, but willing to train.
- Must be energetic, friendly, organized and customer service driven.
- Must have the ability to work in an extremely fast-paced work environment.
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must have a passion for animal welfare.
