Department Manager - Advertising & Marketing
Suzuki Marine is seeking a Department Manager that will be responsible for overseeing, developing and implementing marketing strategies, as well as branding activities within the company. Develop communication strategies with the objective of increasing brand awareness amongst the business’s target audience and to help increase brand awareness, exposure and loyalty. Leads marketing campaigns and works closely with the marketing team to ensure that they meet marketing objectives.
Job Description
The Department Manager plans the annual marketing strategy for a company’s products or services to support the brand’s growth ambitions. Creates and updates a calendar of campaigns and events, develop brand strategy, and analyze the growing trends in the market. Oversees the implementation of the marketing strategy through leadership with the marketing team.
Responsibilities
- Developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy to propel business growth
- Analyzing key marketing performance metrics, providing insights from market research, competitor analysis, campaign outcomes, and consumer trends
- Adjusting the marketing plan based on findings and offering valuable insights to better understand the consumer and contribute to the overall business strategy
- Creation of POP resources with marketing team to support the sales team’s effectiveness with accounts
- Identifying new business opportunities and providing actionable plans to enhance the company’s advertising & marketing efforts
- Managing and overseeing the annual marketing budget
- Delivering an overview of all marketing activities aimed at boosting awareness and sales, including digital, print, media, social media, market research, direct marketing for current and new product offerings
- Overseeing coordination with internal and external agencies regarding photo shoots, events, boat shows, etc.
- Offering development opportunities and guidance to the marketing team and marketing manager on work priorities, budgets, and resources
- Market brand strategy to raise brand reputation and recognition
- Strategy implementation of high-performing markets to improve business performance across on and offline channels
- Market analysis and evaluation of marketing campaigns
- Ensuring that marketing initiatives are effective, proactive and engaging
- Communicating marketing goals effectively, both within the team and the wider business
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve strategic goals and deliver a measurable results per campaign
- Create best practices and using insights to develop and implement marketing plans across the business
- Develop and Execute successful advertising strategies aligned with overall corporate goals
- Consistently coordinate corporate marketing and communications into all aspects of a business’s corporate advertising and marketing strategy.
Requirements and skills
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field
- Extensive knowledge of the marine/boating industry
- In-depth expertise with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and others
- Over 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, advertising, and brand management
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and various software programs, including Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven leadership and project management skills
- Strategic, innovative, and creative mindset with a passion for working in and leading a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Skilled multitasker with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
- Willingness to travel and work weekends, events, boat shows, and extended hours when required
- Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.
- Must work in an office setting; this is not a remote position
- Willingness to work additional hours for marketing campaigns, photo shoots, production sessions, and other needs
- Strong interpersonal skills, providing leadership while demonstrating company values and leadership behavior
- Results-driven with a focus on creating high performing campaigns and achieving successful outcomes
- Proven track record of project management success and comprehensive knowledge of all marketing aspects

- As a key role, the Department Manager directly reports to the GM of Sales & Marketing and often provide reports to the executive team as well.
