Clinical Nurse Manager
- Where- Multiple Locations Across Southern California. Based in West Hills CA
- Reports to Director of Nursing / Medical Director / COO
- Department- Surgical Centers
- Client has 5 surgery centers with 1 OR per site and 3-4 Pre-OP / PACU beds per OR-
West Hills (2),
Westlake Village / Thousand Oaks (1),
Bakersfield (1),
Beverly Hills (1).
May open more surgery centers in the future but that is what is currently established. Our staff are expected to travel to all sites, especially for full time staff positions.
SUMMARY
Provides clinical and professional management while leading the nursing and surgical teams in coordinating multidisciplinary care of patients in ambulatory surgical centers. Manages the ambulatory surgical centers in a cost-efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage the clinic operations to ensure the corporate goals of service, associate engagement and patient experience are accomplished while maintaining a culture that focuses on quality medical care.
2. Direct, supervise and coordinate the clinical functions and activities of the ambulatory surgical centers including systems, budget, materials management, policies, practices and innovations within nursing care.
3. Contribute to and be supportive of on-going professional and service developments at the ambulatory surgical centers.
4. Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership, demonstrating clinical competence and expertise in clinical nursing.
5. Mentor and guide clinical staff in all aspects of operations, policies, procedures and best practices.
6. Evaluate and manage the implementation of best practices to meet the needs of the ambulatory surgical centers.
7. Ensure that each patient has daily individual and on-going assessment of need, ensuring planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
8. Create a learning environment by keeping updated with new developments in nursing by supporting and encouraging open discussion with staff.
9. Provide support and supervision to the front-line staff where appropriate in order to assist them in their role.
10. Ensure compliance with legal and professional requirements in clinical practice and documentation.
11. Ensure compliance of all staff with medication incident reporting procedures and facilitate learning of same.
12. Ensure that appropriate, accurate and concise records are maintained at all times (including staff mandatory training records, performance plans, time off request etc.
13. Collaborate with ambulatory surgical center medical personnel and Director of Nursing in order to lead and implement change with reference to any national reforms relating to nursing practices, policies and procedures.
14. Participate in regular and formal staff meetings to discuss operations practice or clinic issues etc.
15. Lead in the development and implementation of evidence-based standards and guidelines for practice, participate in developing, implementing and regularly revising the Risk Management, Chart Audit and Quality Programs and other performance indicators.
16. Maintain effective communication networks within the Surgical Center and other departments throughout the Ambulatory Surgical Centers and Clinic office.
17. Assis the Director of Nursing in ensuring that all procedures are carried out in accordance with the Ambulatory Surgical Center’s policies, procedures, guidelines and other legal requirements.
18. Play a lead role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned or needed.

12. Skill in completing and maintaining fiscal reports, productivity reports, peer review analyses and disciplinary action sessions.
13. Ability to hire and train staff.
14. Ability to lead staff in all nursing and surgical staff orientation, competencies, education and in-services.
15. Ability to act as Safety Office and ensure ambulatory surgical staff are compliant and knowledgeable in Infection Control.
16. Knowledge in Quality Improvement Projects.
17. Skill in self-directed activity, multi-tasking, time management, planning and workload control.
18. Skill in orientation and training.
19. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
20. Skill in developing, documenting and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards.

EDUCATION
Current California Registered Nurse License with no restrictions to work in the State of California
Candidate must be state licensed, the license must be in good standing, in order to provide patient care in their assigned center(s).
EXPERIENCE
Minimum one year of Surgical Nurse experience
Previous management experience preferred.
Must possess good mental and physical health to perform all job duties.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION
Certified or will be in AORN for Infection Control
Current ACLS, and BLS
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to manage complications involving several variables in standardized situations.
Must be able effectively resolve conflicts as they arise.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a clinical surgical / office environment. Involves occasional exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, as well as eye-hand coordination. Frequent standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods of time, as well as occasional bending and stooping. Ability to communicate with patients, staff and clients. Ability to facilitate prescribed treatment and prepares documentation and reports. Handling and lifting of patients. Ability to use therapy equipment. May occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Normal or corrected vision to levels that allow performance of tasks inherent to medical practice and common office work. Hearing within the acceptable range for telephone contacts.
