Job Title: Loss Prevention Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Loss Prevention Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for monitoring, investigating, and reducing theft within our distribution and manufacturing warehouse. The Loss Prevention Specialist will implement security measures, conduct surveillance, and provide detailed weekly reports on security incidents and potential risks. This role is essential in maintaining a safe and secure work environment while protecting company assets. The ideal candidate will be actively engaged in learning our business operations and will split their time between working on the floor and monitoring security footage in the camera room. They will be directly involved in maintaining low company shrink and ensuring proactive loss prevention strategies are in place. The person in this role will be responsible for gauging shrink results and providing constant feedback to the Director of Warehouse and HR on how to better safeguard the business. This individual must maintain a professional tone and demeanor when interacting with staff. Additionally, they will hold monthly meetings with the Director of Warehouse and HR to review shrink results and operational excellence. They will also verify what goes inside freight trucks and conduct random inspections to ensure procedural compliance. 80% of their time will be spent on the warehouse floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor Warehouse Security: Oversee and operate surveillance systems, conduct regular facility patrols, and ensure compliance with security policies.
Theft Prevention & Investigation: Identify, investigate, and document any instances of theft, fraud, or suspicious activity. Work closely with law enforcement when necessary.
Incident Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly reports outlining security incidents, trends, and recommendations for theft prevention strategies.
Access Control & Policy Enforcement: Monitor employee and visitor access to restricted areas and ensure adherence to company policies.
Implement Security Measures: Collaborate with management to develop and improve security protocols, including physical security and internal controls.
Coordinate with Law Enforcement: Liaise with local authorities in cases of theft, break-ins, or security breaches.
Employee Awareness & Training: Conduct periodic loss prevention training sessions for employees to raise awareness about theft prevention strategies and security best practices.
Audit & Compliance: Conduct routine security audits and inspections to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
Engage in Business Operations: Learn and understand company processes to better identify and mitigate risks.
Active Floor & Camera Monitoring: Split time between working on the warehouse floor and monitoring security footage to ensure hands-on loss prevention and real-time risk mitigation.
Shrink Management: Track and analyze shrink trends, implementing strategies to mitigate losses effectively.
Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with staff, ensuring clear and constructive communication.
Freight Verification & Inspections: Check and verify items being loaded onto freight trucks and conduct random procedural follow-up inspections.
Operational Excellence Meetings: Hold monthly meetings with the Director of Warehouse and HR to review shrink management results and discuss process improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years experience in loss prevention, security, or law enforcement, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of CCTV monitoring, alarm systems, and access control technologies.
Experience conducting investigations and preparing security reports.
Ability to assess security risks and implement effective theft prevention strategies.
Excellent observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Must be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to handle confidential matters with integrity.
Preferred Certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Security Professional (CSP), or similar security certifications.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and patrol large warehouse areas for extended periods.
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Occasional lifting of security equipment or materials up to 25 lbs.
