Job Summary:
SW North America’s Technical Project Engineer will be responsible to assure the feasibility of all machining processes and will assure the success of all customer awards for the purchase of Turnkey Machining Processes. Responsible for tools, processes, and standards required to assure state of the art machining processes, work holding and cutting tools are specified. Determine all machine specifications and options required for Customer Awarded Programs including any equipment retrofit requirements of existing SW Machining Equipment.
The Technical Project Engineer performs a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:
- Perfect machining processes for customer workpieces using company products and techniques
- Complete conceptual work holding, cutting tool, gaging.
- Specify the proper Company Machines
- Setup and Manage Mechanical, Open Issues and Teams
- Write Statements of Work for Customer Awarded Projects
- Detail runoff and prove out specifications with the intent each Machining Process is to be proven out to a statistical level that meets or exceeds Customer Workpiece Specifications
- Work with Internal and External Work holding Suppliers to complete detailed design, build, and prove out of project work holding and support all field modifications.
- Work with external Tooling Suppliers to specify and optimize tool materials, geometry, paths, cutting feeds and speeds for reduced cycle times and improved tool life.
- Reduce and simplify operating and setup time required for workpiece loading, tool setting, work holding change out (when required), inline gaging and probing.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations

Requirements
Qualifications & Abilities:
- 5 years’ experience setting up four and five axis CNC machining centers
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
- Skilled in the setup and understanding of 4 & 5 Axis Machining Center Operations
- Skilled in reading and understanding of 2D blueprints, 3D models and GD&T Requirements
- Experienced with Targeting of Machines and Statistical Capability
