Job Summary:
The Catering Banquet Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing high-quality food for catered events, banquets, and off-site functions. This role ensures that all dishes meet company standards for taste, presentation, and food safety while managing kitchen staff, overseeing food production, and maintaining operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Execution
- Develop and execute menus for catering events, banquets, and private functions, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Oversee food production, ensuring that all items are prepared on time and according to event specifications.
- Ensure proper portioning, garnishing, and presentation of all menu items.
- Adapt recipes and cooking techniques to accommodate dietary restrictions and client preferences.
Event Coordination & Execution
- Collaborate with event planners, clients, and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless execution of events.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen operations during events, ensuring efficiency and adherence to timelines.
- Manage on-site and off-site catering setups, ensuring that all equipment, supplies, and food items are transported and arranged properly.
Kitchen Management & Leadership
- Train, mentor, and oversee catering kitchen staff, ensuring a high level of performance and professionalism.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor food and labor costs, helping to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Order and maintain inventory of ingredients, supplies, and equipment needed for catering operations.
Quality Control & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food.
- Conduct quality control checks to maintain high standards of food production.
- Address any issues related to food quality, service, or client satisfaction promptly.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Banquet Chef, Catering Chef, or in a similar high-volume culinary role.
- Strong knowledge of catering operations, banquet-style cooking, and large-scale food production.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (ServSafe certification preferred).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in hot and cold kitchen conditions.
