Quality Control Inspector

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is responsible for ensuring conformance of Fabrication Services assemblies and processes to both Swagelok and customer quality requirements. The QCI will perform first piece, in-process, and final inspection of orders within the Fab Services Department, as well as receipt inspections of 3rd Party Supplier products. Additionally, the QCI will perform other Quality related administrative tasks such as gauge calibration, document control, record retention, and CMTR reviews.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs first piece, in-process, and final inspection of orders within the Fab Services Department.
• Performs receipt inspections of 3rd Party Supplier products.
• Reads and understands engineering drawings and follows appropriate documents to ensure order compliance to Swagelok and customer requirements.
• Provides unbiased disposition of product based on established quality requirements.
• Communicates effectively and professionally while carrying out job responsibilities and working as an integral member on the Fabrication Services team.
• Understands the safety and housekeeping standards in Fab Services and performs applicable daily 5S tasks.
• Conveys information pertaining to observed quality trends and issues.
• Understands process flow within both Fab Services and Shipping and performs tasks in a timely manner to ensure customer ship dates are met.
• Assist with Quality Audits as well as Certification Program (CP) Assessments.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Warehouse and Office Environment
• Work Schedule: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM weekdays
• Reports to Director of Production | Quality

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education & Experience Required:

• High school diploma.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing prints and product / process specifications.
• Strong mechanical comprehension and math skills.
• Computer and office software skills.

Education & Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 2-3 years of experience in quality, engineering, or a technical field.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity exams.
• Must be able to lift on a regular basis between 25 - 35 pounds.
• Demonstrate manual dexterity required to properly handle products and gauges, able to move throughout the shop floor to perform inspections, move parts, etc.
• Some standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, and twisting is required.
• Must be willing to work in an enclosed space such as a clean room.
