POSITION SUMMARY :
The Physical Therapist (PT) is a licensed professional who evaluates patients; plans and implements treatment plans based on the evaluation, and educates patients, families and staff. He / She exercises initiative and judgement in delegating appropriate duties to support personnel and reevaluates and modifies treatment programs as necessary. He / She performs appropriate administrative duties and participates in educational programs as assigned or approved by the Rehabilitation Supervisor and / or Director of Rehabilitation Services. Incumbent reports to Rehabilitation Supervisor and / or Director of Rehabilitation Services. Incumbent supervises PT Assistants, students, and Rehab support personnel.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Required Licenses : Active NC Physical Therapist License
Minimum Education : Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
Certifications : AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills : Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Affiliations : Recommended affiliation with the American Physical Therapist Association (APTA).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Physically, the PT is required to assist in moving and lifting patients; to push / pull heavy objects (e.g. wheelchairs or stretchers); to stay on his / her feet for long periods; to bend and stoop; and to reach above shoulder height. Patients may vary in size from as little as 80 pounds to as large as 400 pounds and may be totally dependent in all aspects of daily living or relatively independent. There is limited exposure to infectious materials and diseases.
