SUMMARY:
The Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring their access to a high-quality education. This role encompasses developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior plans, modifying curriculum to meet diverse learning needs, and facilitating inclusion in general education settings. The teacher will utilize data collection processes to monitor student progress, write transition plans, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and administrators. Experience in ELA and Math, as well as co-teaching, is highly desirable. Candidates must hold valid Massachusetts licensure in accordance with DESE regulations and possess relevant education and/or experience.
DUTIES:
- Complete evaluations, write IEPs, progress reports
- Provide specialized instruction and accommodations to students with learning disabilities in reading, writing and mathematics
- Knowledge of utilizing structured, direct, sequential, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction to teach decoding/encoding, phonemic awareness, and comprehension/fluency
- Communication/Collaboration/Consultation with general education teachers to support student learning
- Knowledge of Assistive Technology
- Communication with families
- Wilson Trained and/or Orton Gillingham and LIPS preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s level required
- Moderate Disabilities DESE certification in required grade level,
- OG, Wilson, and Lips trained preferred
