Position Overview
The Behavior Technician plays a pivotal role within our organization by providing 1 : 1 intervention to an assigned client. Operating under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Behavior Technicians utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions to teach essential skills and reduce challenging behaviors. This role necessitates meticulous data collection and session notes to monitor and assess client progress.

Overall Objective
Create an enriched learning environment by providing evidence-based interventions within the scope of Applied Behavior Analysis while strictly adhering to the Board Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Code of Ethics.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to the basic needs of clients (e.g., food, water, toileting) during therapy sessions.
- Maintain a daily needs form throughout each session, including offering snacks and water, facilitating changes, and providing access to the bathroom, while meticulously tracking opportunities and prompts.
- Deliver daily session summaries to parents / guardians using the daily needs form.
- Review the daily schedule for updates and client changes.
- Log into scheduled sessions in our practice management software and review the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and client updates.
- Prepare the client's workspace with the required stimuli.
- Execute client intervention plan goals by comprehensively understanding each target and diligently following delivery instructions.
- Actively engage with clients by delivering frequent Naturalistic Environment Training (NET) opportunities in a playful and interactive manner.
- Maintain close proximity (3-5 feet) to the client to ensure continuous engagement and prioritize client safety.
- Seek support, clarification, and modeling from supervisors and fellow Behavior Technicians whenever needed.
- Collect data on client responses to prompts for all treatment plan items.
- Document behavioral data as required.
- Summarize the session as it unfolds and complete final session notes to meet billing standards.
- Communicate client progress to clinical team members during team meetings or daily data collection and daily notes.
- Ensure timely transition of the client to the next BT session or parent / guardian.
- Accurate and timely data collection, session notes, and report writing are vital aspects of the role, with strict adherence to all privacy and confidentiality laws, including HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality.
- Commitment to providing culturally sensitive and competent care.
- Compliance with all ethical guidelines and standards set forth by the BACB.
- Accommodate specific requirements, such as autism-specific interventions, depending on the client's unique needs or preferences.
