The Lead Electrician (LE):
- Demonstrates expertise in system repair, maintenance, inspection, and installation at a journeyman level.
- Assigns and inspects work of up to 6 journeyman electricians and apprentices, taking corrective actions to maintain satisfactory standards and timely project completion.
- Able and willing to teach electrical skills to apprentices.
- Develops onsite work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and procedures for equipment maintenance.
- Maintains time, payroll, and material records, submitting reports accordingly.
- Determines material and labor estimates.
- Assists in performance evaluations.
- Participates in duties typical of master electricians in the trade.
Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with common tools, equipment, and materials in the trade.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Ability to estimate time and material requirements for work projects.
- Leadership skills in guiding self and others' work activities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Journeyman experience - minimum of 4 years required.
- Willingness to periodically work out-of-state preferred.
- Experience as a jobsite lead for contracts up to $500,000 in value.
- Commercial and industrial experience.
- Experience with electrical system layout onsite.
- Experience with material ordering and change order paperwork.
- Experience with layout work for support electricians.
- High school diploma required.
- Technical or college coursework not required but preferred.
