Job Summary :
We are seeking a dedicated and organized HR Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Human Resources or a related field, exhibit strong organizational skills, and be a true team player. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Salary Range : $40,000 – 46,000

Duties / Responsibilities :
Conduct District recruiting, job postings, new employee onboarding, background screening, and processingProcess employee change actions upon new hires, resignations, staffing changes, etc.Interpret collective bargaining agreements and ensure complianceEnters absences and assists with correcting issues with the District’s absence program.Ensures teachers are in compliance with teacher certifications and Section 1526 Professional DevelopmentOversee Worker’s Compensation and OSHA / MIOSHA Compliance and administrationResponsible for handling and processing unemployment claimsCoordinates District-wide Safe Schools programs, online training, and ensures annual compliance.Maintains and provides necessary updates to the District employment webpage.Perform daily tasks in accordance with Board of Education policies and District rules / regulationsProcess benefits enrollments, including annual open enrollment.Handles routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.Processes and maintains recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.Conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, compensation, and other labor negotiations; collects information and reports results to the Executive Director of Human Resources.Processes Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for all employees and coordinates with payroll to ensure accuracy.Manages criminal record check system for applicants and new employees.Responsible for ensuring compliance of electronic fingerprinting completionsCoordinate and participate in employee engagement activities, fostering a positive workplace culture.Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including EEO-1, affirmative action plans, organizational charts, labor agreements, and employee handbooks.Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.Performs other duties as assignedRequired Skills / Abilities :

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Physical Requirements :
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
