What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Dispatcher position at SWAT Logistics?
Summary of Position:
- This position will be responsible for all functions in connection with managing the pickup and delivery of customer products and ensuring customer needs are being met or exceeded while keeping down costs. Responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with SWAT Logistics polices and applicable laws.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day.
- Monitor any sudden route changes or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve with customers any missing, misrouted, delayed, cancelled or aborted shipments.
- Work closely with drivers to ensure SWAT Logistics has a strong understanding of their expectations and capabilities and that they understand SWAT's (and our customers') expectations and requirements.
- Keep up with load manifest and load board daily and collaborate with other Dispatch Team members.
- Enter/update TMS System orders with correct Service Type, POD and pricing information.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned client account(s).
- Upload various documents to our Dropbox.
- Ensure proactive communication of problems/damages/issues immediately to SWAT Logistics management team.
- Complete a variety of daily reports and clerical duties.
- Answer and direct business calls to appropriate personnel.
- Manage vehicle maintenance needs for drivers on the road.
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Manage daily activities in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to adjust to last minute changes and work with drivers to schedule emergency pick-up or delivery for new or established clients when necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing), analyze and solve problems, gather data, prepare reports, foster a cooperative work environment, follow instructions and work with minimum supervision
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong geographical knowledge - particularly of the Southeastern United States Ability to work independently and make relevant decisions
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations
- Knowledge of Transportation/DOT Regulations Experience with Xcelerator TMS platform.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
