Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Oncology Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with physicians and medical staff to provide compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a patient-centered approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for exams by recording vital signs, symptoms, and other measurements; document pain scores and report any changes in the patient’s condition to the provider.
- Assist providers during in-office procedures by preparing treatment rooms, handling instruments, and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Collect laboratory specimens, administer injections, and act as a chaperone as needed.
- Manage patient care coordination, including pre-certifications, referrals, prior authorizations, FMLA forms, disability paperwork, and prescription management.
- Answer phone calls professionally, take accurate messages, and ensure timely follow-up on patient inquiries.
- Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment.
- Prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and adapt to the needs of medically complex patients in a fast-paced setting.
- Provide empathetic and compassionate care, prioritizing the health and well-being of our patients.
- Perform additional duties as requested to support the overall efficiency and success of the practice.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Experience in patient care.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred (not required):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
- CPR Certification.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish (not required but a plus).
