Senior Coder (279325)
Schedule: FTE 1.0, Day, Flexi work Schedule, 100% Remote
Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes on inpatient or outpatient cases using ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems, assigns DRGs using the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) MS-DRG and All Patient groupers and abstracts data for statistical, reimbursement and regulatory requirements. Ensures coding compliance by applying all coding principles and guidelines as defined in the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, Swedish Medical Center policies and other leading authorities. The Coding Technician is a member of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team that assures charts are coded to reflect the level of service provided.

Required Qualifications:
Upon hire: National Certified Inpatient Coder or
Upon hire: National Certified Professional Coder or
Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or
Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association or
Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or
Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree or equivalent educ/experience
Or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or completion of a certified coding program. Will consider applicants with approximately two years experience and relevant and applicable education
2 years ICD-9-CM and CPT coding experience performing hospital-based inpatient and out patient coding
