Job Description

One of our clients is seeking two (2) senior-level Power BI / SQL Developers to support the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other reporting / data-driven development efforts. This role requires strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills and will involve collaborating with business teams, IT teams, and other stakeholders .

This position requires a self-motivated professional who can prioritize tasks, manage workloads independently, and develop efficient Power BI solutions and SQL database optimizations . Candidates must follow  hybrid schedule with mandatory on-site work every Tuesday and Wednesday .

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business needs.
  • Create interactive visualizations and reports to monitor Critical Data Elements (CDEs) .
  • Optimize Power BI data models and DAX queries to improve performance.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning strategies .
  • Conduct data modeling and schema design for MS SQL Server environments.
  • Support business intelligence initiatives and provide best practices for data visualization .
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data needs and convert them into actionable reports.
  • Review and optimize SQL execution plans, indexes, and partitions for better performance.
  • Convert manual Excel data manipulation processes into automated Power BI and SQL-based solutions to reduce cycle time.
  • Assist with data migration, integration, and ETL process improvements .
  • Provide training and technical support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.
  • Follow  data security policies to maintain data confidentiality and integrity .
  • Participate in special projects assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer .

Requirements

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in Power BI development, data visualization, and dashboard creation .
  • 5 years of experience in SQL Server development , including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning .
  • 3 years of experience writing advanced DAX queries for Power BI models.
  • 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server data modeling and schema design .
  • 3 years of experience working in an Agile development environment .
  • 5 years of experience working independently and in cross-functional teams to develop BI solutions.
  • 5 years of strong problem-solving and analytical skills .
  • 5 years of excellent communication and interpersonal skills , working with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Preferred Skills (Highly Desired, Not Required)

  • 2 years of experience working in Pensions Benefit Management programs .
  • 2 years of experience with other BI tools , such as Tableau, QlikView .
  • 2 years of programming experience with Python or R for data analysis.
  • 2 years of familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) .
  • 1 year of Microsoft Certified : Data Analyst Associate certification or equivalent.
  • 1 year of other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis, or database management .
  • Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred .
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in technology or data organizations required .
  • Additional Information

  • Work Location : Hybrid (On-site at least 2 days per week – Tuesday & Wednesday) – No Exceptions .
  • Interview Process : Initial virtual interviews, possible in-person follow-up interviews .
  • Local Richmond, VA candidates preferred due to on-site requirements.
  • Candidates must be available to start within the next 6 weeks .

  • Requirements

    Experience gathering business requirements from internal and external stakeholders – 5 years Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint – 5 years Experience creating, managing, and tracing business and IT requirements – 5 years Ability to facilitate brainstorming sessions, lead discussions, and drive teams toward defined goals – 5 years Experience working in a PMO or managing multiple simultaneous projects – 5 years Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data and information and present findings clearly – 5 years Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and effectively multi-task – 5 years Experience generating project reports (status updates, dashboards, budgets, etc.) – 3 years Experience working on Agile project teams – 3 years Self-starter with an inquisitive nature and a problem-solving mindset – 5 years Experience working with Medicaid IT and / or Healthcare systems – 3 years PMP or other project management certification Additional Information Work Location : Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote) – parking NOT provided. Interview Process : Candidates must complete a USE CASE business requirements work product as part of the interview process. Local candidates strongly preferred. Final hiring decisions will be made after all interviews and work products are reviewed.
