Summary/Objective:
Under the direction of the CEO, the House Supervisor acts as the on-site administrative designee for the entire facility for off-shifts and weekends. During off-shifts and weekends, the House Supervisor oversees the comprehensive operations of the entire hospital and The Fountains, ensuring compliance with hospital and nursing mission, goals, vision, policies, and procedures. He/she utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of patient care and ensures quality care is provided through appropriate allocation of human resources, maintaining financial control of the units, and serving as a liaison between administration and staff. This individual demonstrates personal and professional responsibility; participates in creating an atmosphere of mutual trust, acceptance, recognition and respect; and assumes responsibility for own professional development.
Essential Functions:

- Manages the off-hours and weekend patient care activities.
- Ensure staff provides the highest quality of care and are in compliance with TJC standards.
- Coordinates and monitors staffing for all shifts and maintains appropriate staffing levels and mix.
- Evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum and provides feedback to Nursing Directors.
- Follows up on clinical issues that arise during shift. Monitors quality of care delivered.
- Supervises staff, assesses their needs and identifies educational opportunities.
- Acts as a patient advocate.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities to reduce costs.
- Manages and resolves, employee / department safety, and risk management issues.
- Has comprehensive understanding of patient flow.
- Continuously monitors beds and expedites patient flow. Confirms capacity through direct observation.
- Has contingency plan for staffing. Assists in covering staffing shortages due to employee call outs.
- Rounds through nursing units every 2 hours and as needed.
- Responds promptly to all pages.
- Fosters positive working relationships with staff. Responds to staff requests in a courteous, respectful manner.
- Responds to all Code Blues.
- Completes staffing report for on-coming House Supervisor. Communicates report with CEO,CNO and unit directors.
- Rounds through facility and documents any issues on Supervisor Rounds Report.
- Acts as a resource for house wide issues as they relate to nursing and at times other departments.
- Intervenes in special patient/family, physician and employee situations when referred by administration or other appropriate management staff.

Work Environment:
The House Supervisor will work throughout the hospital and patient rooms that are well-lit and ventilated. May be exposed to communicable diseases. May experience traumatic and stressful situations.
Qualifications
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires intermittent physical activity, endurance, ability to assist, lift and support patients. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and crouching as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time night position and the core hours of Sunday through Saturday 7:00 pm – 7:00 am (night shift) with overtime as needed. Position requires work schedule flexibility based on needs of the hospital weekends and holidays. Ability and willingness to work extra shifts that are outside the night shift core hours are required when staffing shortages occur.

Required Education, Experience and License
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Current RN nursing license from the State of Texas or Compact state, in pursuit of Texas license.
Current BCLS with PALS and ACLS and TNCC within 12 months of hire.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
