Summary/Objective:
Assist educational department activities, in accordance with current standards of practice, rules, regulations and guidelines that govern Sweeny Community Hospital to ensure facility compliance.
Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the education program in the facility based on identified patient needs, staff needs, federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and conducting general and nursing-specific orientation for new hires.
- Ensure new employees receive adequate clinical training and mentorship.
- Provides ongoing support and evaluation for new nurses during their onboarding period.
- Maintains educational records for all staff
- Organizes and facilitates in-service training, workshops, and competency validation sessions.
- Identifies staff learning needs and recommends professional development opportunities.
- Implements and incorporate both non-clinical and clinical programs that improve medical practices for patient safety and quality patient care.
- Continually investigate methods for improving patient care and safety.
- Serve as role model providing clinical and professional leadership.
- Maintains the yearly education that meets the CMS guidelines
- Provides regular education on facility practices and procedures.
- Oversees preceptors of new hires.
- Conducts an annual competency skills evaluation of nurses in preparation for their performance evaluation.
- Acts as the liaison between the nursing instructors and affiliated students.
- Maintains and submits to HR all training attendance documentation.
- Ensures staff compliance with regulatory requirements, including BLS, ACLS, and other necessary certifications.
- Maintains accurate records of training completion, licensure, and certifications.
- Assist with Informatics role a needed

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires intermittent physical activity, endurance, ability to assist, lift and support patients. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and crouching as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work /Travel
Day shift, three eight- hour shifts, may include evenings and weekends for additional drills, or training. Travel may be required for education or training.
Required Education, Experience and License
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing. Certification to practice as an RN.
Knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP within 12 months of hire.
