POSITION SUMMARY:
The accounting analyst is responsible for the day-to-day transactions for the company’s fixed assets, along with the filing of Sales & Use Tax, preparing and filing Business Property Tax returns and managing the Property Tax payment process.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
Fixed Asset Management:
Maintain detailed and accurate records of all fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, disposal, and transfers.
Perform monthly fixed asset reconciliations, including tracking year-to-date capital spending against approved budget, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards related to fixed assets, including but not limited to GAAP.
Coordinate with the Fleet Departments to ensure timely and accurate capital expenditure reporting.
Monitor and update asset life cycles, including depreciation schedules and asset categorization.
Provide fixed asset-related support to management and other departments as required.
Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fixed asset accounting procedures.
Tax & Accounting Support:
Prepare and file Sales and Use Tax, Gross Receipts and other Indirect Tax returns.
Prepare and file Business Property Tax Returns.
Process applications to taxing authorities for new Payroll Tax accounts.
Review and analyze Property Tax bills and ensure payments are made timely and accurately.
Ensure compliance with relevant tax jurisdictions reporting requirements.
Analyze Accounts Payable data to determine taxability for Use Tax and record the entries accordingly.
Prepare Journal Entries and monthly tax account reconciliations.
Assist with Tax Audits and enquiries from taxing authorities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in fixed asset accounting.
Indirect tax experience in filing Sales/Use Tax and Property Tax.
Strong working knowledge of Oracle NetSuite and its Fixed Asset module.
In-depth understanding of accounting principles and fixed asset management.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Having a high degree of judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedure.
