Job Title: Field Irrigation Specialist / Water Quality Technician
Position Summary
Responsible for managing field irrigation operations and water quality monitoring during the growing season (May-October), with transition to maintenance or other operational roles during the off-season (November-April).
Key Responsibilities
Growing Season (May-October)
- Operate and monitor irrigation equipment to ensure proper water distribution across all fields
- Implement irrigation schedules based on crop needs and weather conditions
- Perform routine checks of irrigation systems, identifying and reporting any issues
- Collect weekly wastewater samples according to regulatory requirements
- Properly prepare and package samples for laboratory testing, maintaining chain of custody
- Document irrigation activities and sampling procedures
- Assist with harvest operations as needed in late season
Off-Season (November-April)
- Transition to maintenance role or other operational position based on facility needs
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repair
- Support facility winterization and spring preparation activities
- Participate in operational planning for the upcoming growing season
Schedule
- Full-time, year-round position
- Seasonal role changes between growing and non-growing periods
- May require occasional weekend work during peak irrigation periods
Qualifications
Previous agricultural or field work experience preferred
Valid driver's license
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Attention to detail and ability to follow sampling protocols
Reliable and self-motivated with minimal supervision
Flexibility to adapt to seasonal role changes
