Sweet Repair, LLC, a growing heavy duty diesel repair facility located in Grand Rapids, MI, is looking for experienced Diesel Mechanics Level II and III to service the fleet of Sweet Express and Omni Transport and our customers. Sign on bonus is $2,000 total; $500 at 30 days, $500 at 90 days, $500 at 135 days and $500 at 6 months for Afternoon and Night shift. The shift schedules are 7am to 4pm, 2pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am. The general responsibilities of the Diesel Mechanic include the following:
- Demonstrated expertise in two or more major areas of diesel vehicle repair with ability to diagnose and make general repairs in all areas of diesel vehicle service, general diesel mechanic repair services
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance on service trucks, including inspections to meet manufacturers' performance specifications
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles
- Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic device
- Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions
- Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, air conditioning, etc. to specification follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas
- Review repair order to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups; along with regular diagnostic tests
- Repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems
- Ensure maintenance meets standards to ensure the highest quality of work for our vehicles and our customer’s vehicles
- Other duties as assigned to conduct business
Diesel Mechanic Job Requirements:
-Must have a DOT certification in at least one of the major Diesel Mechanic functional areas
- Valid driver’s license; CDL designation preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- 4 Years’ Experience repairing commercial diesel vehicles preferred
- ability to safely drive vehicles and work with heavy equipment
- ability to use senses including hearing, vision and scent to diagnose issues
- Must have tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and team lift as needed for items above 50 lbs.
- Self-starter with a high degree of problem-solving skills and deductive reasoning
- regular bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, reaching, grasping and working from various angles and heights
- Regular walking and standing on hard and/or uneven surfaces
