We are seeking an Experienced Pastry Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. In this role, you will lead our pastry operations—from concept development to execution—while maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Menu Development & Recipe Creation:
- Conceptualize and execute innovative pastry and dessert menus in line with seasonal trends and customer preferences.
- Maintain consistency in flavors, textures, and presentation to uphold company standards.
- Production Management:
- Oversee daily pastry production, including baking, cake decorating, and dessert creation.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
- Quality Control & Food Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling and labeling of food products.
- Continuously monitor and adjust processes for quality assurance.
- Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise and mentor junior pastry staff, providing hands-on training and guidance.
- Coordinate schedules, delegate tasks, and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Cost Management:
- Work within budget constraints; control food costs by minimizing waste and optimizing ingredient usage.
- Collaborate with management to set menu prices and adjust recipes for profitability.
- Collaboration & Customer Service:
- Work closely with the culinary team to coordinate overall menu offerings.
- Engage with customers or clients to accommodate special requests (e.g., custom desserts, dietary restrictions).
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional pastry experience in a restaurant, hotel, or high-volume bakery setting.
- Proven track record of managing or supervising pastry teams is a plus.
- Education:
- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution (preferably in pastry arts) strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in various baking and pastry techniques (e.g., lamination, tempering chocolate, sugar work, advanced decorating).
- Strong understanding of flavor profiles and menu costing.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, remain organized, and deliver under pressure.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 21 per week
