Sweet Home School District is seeking a High School Spanish Language teacher. Position requires a valid Oregon teaching license with appropriate endorsement for HQT status. Prefer experience with PLCs, Differentiated Instruction and PBIS. The successful candidate will  teach subject matter and skills that will contribute to the students' development as mature, able and responsible adults, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge and ability to implement effective teaching practices, maintain a disciplined classroom, be committed to continuous professional growth, create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation  in accordance with each student's ability.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains a cooperative relationship with fellow staff members, students and parents.
  • Adheres to and enforces district, state and federal laws, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Teaches District approved curriculum.
  • Prepares for classes assigned.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.    
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as required by law, district policies and administrative rules.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Responds in a cooperative and positive manner to supervision.
  • Upon request, assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Participates in activities which are related to school functions and/or the educative process which may occur outside the regular school day.
  • Attends assemblies.
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
  • Provides for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work.

Salary : $45,644 - $81,924
