Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and assisting chefs and cooks in creating delicious dishes. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and timeliness of the food served to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, and chop vegetables; slice meats and cheeses; measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Food Storage: Properly store food items to health regulation standards in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage. Label containers with dates and track usage dates. Monitor temperatures of the refrigerators to ensure food items are being stored properly.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Assistance: Assist chefs and cooks with various tasks as needed, including plating dishes and preparing garnishes.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Compliance: Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is preferred.
- Skills: Strong knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Attributes: Attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong teamwork skills.
