SPC is based in Detroit, MI, and specializes in frozen treats and experiences for dogs. We are committed to sourcing locally, empowering local initiatives, and serving pet owners and businesses that embrace our canine companions. Our seasonal popup schedule runs April - October.
Role Description
This is a part-time hybrid role for a Social Media Marketing Intern at Sweet Paws Creamery. The intern will be responsible for social media marketing, content creation and management, and digital marketing tasks. Though primarily remote, candidates must live in Michigan for occasional event attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must love dogs
- Be in your junior or senior year pursuing an Undergraduate or Masters degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, journalism or a related field – Or be a recent graduate (less than 2 years)
- Completed coursework relevant to the job (journalism and/or digital strategy classes, writing seminars, graphic design courses, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience tracking and analyzing social media metrics to grow followers and engagement
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or other design software
- Monitor social media trends, news, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for engagement.
- Must have a personal laptop or computer and access to the internet
- Must be available to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during Eastern work hours
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must live in Michigan
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed at least 1 relevant internship, outside of work on campus
- Knowledge of pet industry or interest in pets is a plus
- Proven experience in managing social media platforms and creating content, understanding trends and best practices
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Creativity and passion for visual and brand storytelling, social media and technology
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Selected applicants must submit writing/design samples and undergo social media post appraisal
Internship will be 6 months and include:
- Small monthly stipend
- College credits, if applicable
- Letter of recommendation
- Verifiable work experience for resume
