What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at SWEET POTATO CAFE?
Line Cook – We are a family-owned, farm-to-table restaurant located in downtown Historic Stone Mountain Village. Just a stone’s throw from Stone Mountain Park. Situated in a craftsmen-style home, you will work in a scratch kitchen with its own onsite garden. This position will give you the opportunity to learn more about gardening and local eating. We are a member of Georgia Grown and very involved with our local farmers market. The restaurant has been recognized for its Fried Green Tomatoes, Sunday Brunch by the AJC, Raved About by Atlanta Eats and its Executive Chef has competed in the annual Shrimp & Grits competition held on Jekyll Island.
It is imperative that you have passion for your craft. Please do not waste our time or yours if this is just a pit stop. Must be a team player, open minded, willing to think outside the box and adhere to guidance when necessary. You will prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing and preparing sauces. Perform inventory checks. Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage. Cook food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards. Stand for long periods of time. Must be organized. Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces at the end of the shift. One to two years of line cook experience, a plus. Must be flexible. Salary will depend on experience.
High School Diploma or GED
Certificate in Culinary Arts preferred but not required
Must have reliable transportation
Due to COVID-19, the restaurant is currently open Wednesday thru Saturday, with dining-in and patio seating. Currently, we offer brunch the first and third Sunday of each month. We will continue to do take-out, curbside and delivery. Wearing of a mask inside is mandatory.
