Barista Cafe Associate

Our dessert cafe is searching for an engaging, courteous Barista who is passionate about food and beverage preparation to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a positive attitude and is passionate about the food and beverage industry and enjoys working with people and building relationships.

The Barista function will include; greet customers, answer their questions, take orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.

We are looking for someone who is result-oriented and self-driven to provide excellent customer service at our new location in Richmond Virginia.

To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

As a Barista you must be able to make hot and cold drinks from the menu promptly as well as engage and assist with customers with dessert and ice cream selections. You are responsible to educate customers and continue to educate yourself about coffee. You must have the ability to greet customers, build relationships, suggest, and guide orders for customers when needed.

You will have amazing coworkers on your team you need to possess a willingness to help them and always consider them during your shifts to set a positive example.

You are bubbly, have the ability to fully manage a dessert cafe, and willing to show your uniqueness on the floor!

Barista Responsibilities:

· Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.

· Preparing café food items and grind, blend and brew coffee beans

· Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that contributes to a positive team environment

· Self-motivated and multi-tasks with minimal supervision

· Proactively meets both internal and external customer needs.

· Effective work methods and consistently meets employee commitments

· Packaging food and beverages for sale.

· Selling coffee and tea blends, highlighting the differences between items, and educating customers about brewing methods.

· Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.

· Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.

· Updating signage and displays to attract customers.

· Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases and behind the counter.

· Working in as part of a fun, high-energy team.

· Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.

Requirements

·Must Love Ice Cream and prepare customers ice cream orders by request

· Previous work experience as a Barista

· 1 years in coffee service or customer service industry

· Experience and comfortable with working busy shifts

· Ability to stand and be mobile for up to 4 hours at a time

· Flexibility to work various shifts

· Ability to lift to 20 pounds occasionally and as much as 10 pounds frequently

· Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow directions

· Tidy and self-disciplined with knowledge of sanitation regulations

· Ability to gauge customers’ preferences

· Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively

· Exceptional interpersonal skills with a broad array of personality types

· Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· A high degree of self-motivation

· A strong communicator with a commitment to quality.
