General Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing support to the classroom teacher by assisting with the needs of the students, activities and cleaning/disinfecting the classroom. Classroom aides/paras are responsible for checking in/checking out students in Procare and substituting for the classroom teacher when they are absent.

Minimum Educational/Certification Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required; Child Development Associate Preferred

Essential Duties:

  • Support the classroom teacher with the implementation of early childhood activities for your assigned classroom that are aligned to the Wyoming Early Learning Standards, NAEYC Standards, and adopted curricular resources.
  • Support services that are provided in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Governing Services for Children with Disabilities according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure the goals for students are met.
  • Meet weekly and monthly with your assigned Classroom Teacher and Special Education Teacher.
  • In cooperation with the Classroom Teacher maintain regular verbal and written communication with parents/guardians of children in your assigned classroom and provide periodic status reports to them. Keep a communication log and documentation of parent contact using at least three modes of communication a week.
  • Be ready to supervise/greet students 5 minutes prior to the start/end of your classroom time and work with your Classroom Teacher to ensure students are checked in/checked out for all children assigned to your classroom.
  • Daily attendance must be documented in Procare, including sign in for all staff entering or leaving the classroom.
  • Clean and disinfect rooms (toys, furniture, etc.) with your assigned Classroom Teacher.
  • Stay informed and in compliance with current laws and practices, which may include attending training, online training, or seminars, contingent on budgetary allowance.
  • Must attend staff meetings, team meetings, training, and other required meetings on time and as scheduled. This includes fundraising events, open house, and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Respect the cultural diversity and dignity of others and treat them with fairness and courtesy.
  • Must follow all policies and procedures of SCCDC.
  • Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • General computer skills, including in depth knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, etc.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, laws, and software, as needed.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality relative to all matters at SCCDC.
  • Must be reliable, organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with a wide variety of people including children, parents, families, staff members, and community members in order to promote positive relationships within the work setting and community.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage large and small projects without supervision.
  • Must be willing to serve on SCCDC sponsored committees.
  • Represent SCCDC in a professional manner.
  • Volunteer and participate in organizational fundraising and events as requested.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to tolerate air conditioned buildings and fluorescent lights.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment.
  • Must be able to hear and process ordinary conversation, telephone conversation, and quiet sounds with or without aid.
  • Must be able and willing to drive to meet job requirements.
  • Must be able to operate and use equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
